The office spread after industrial production. When people and machines sat under one roof, the closed room stayed the rule for a long time. In finance teams that rule loosened where dealing and operations have to be seen at the same time. Today “open office in finance” means a bench not split by walls.
That bench makes team collaboration easier; without the right kit and acoustics it turns into noise. Communication is frequent here — it cannot be ranked as “the system where talk happens most”. Compliance, internal audit and client meetings pull into a closed room. A finance office is not finished until the open volume and the closed room are written on the same plan.

Many finance teams use an open bench on the dealing or operations floor. The aim is not to make the office “like daily life”; it is to let people on the same line see each other. Motivation rises less from copying home comfort than from readable screens and cut noise.
Team spirit does not appear when a wall comes down; it appears when shift and product line are written side by side. Talk increases on a transparent floor; creative thinking is not the goal of every finance task. If new ideas and daily delivery clash on the same bench, a focus room is added.
