Among executive-room languages, one that comes forward for what it does — taking less floor and staying useful — is minimalist executive-room decoration. Designing a small area asks for more care and finer detail than a large suite.

The minimalism movement that appeared in the 1960s spread into many fields. A spare language whose use grew in architecture and decoration is an option for those who want simplicity and longer life. So how is a minimalist executive room set?

Useful Designs

One cornerstone of minimalist decoration is useful furniture. In spare examples, simplicity and few pieces come forward. That is why pieces used in the suite have to earn their keep. A minimalist language brings quiet to the work area. The balance of furniture matters in an executive room; useful, modular pieces hold that balance. If the desk and accessories stay quiet too, the room stays open and spare.

As Umut GÜRLER Interior Architecture - Ankara Interior Architecture we set that balance from survey to turnkey for the executive room. The test is empty floor and desk layout that hold — not a claim to be the most spare room.

Light Colours

Colours in a minimalist executive room stay more pastel and light. The room should sit simple, clean and open. Light colours build that quiet. Neutrals that hold light are often chosen. Using daylight rather than decorative artificial light raises the effect that is wanted.

Minimal Décor

In a minimalist executive room the pieces stay few and useful. The element that carries that scarcity and quiet is the accessory. Accessories are chosen few, and more often large. A large, simple piece holds harmony with the furniture; it keeps the room spare and leaves a mark of the work for a visitor. In a language that asks for more planning, support from an interior architect on the survey belongs on the list.

For the contrasting language see classic executive-room decoration. Finished offices are on the office designs page.
