How an Open Office Is Set

On an open plan the whole team works in one volume. The aim is to see one another and shorten the short path; call centres and software teams often give that speed as a reason. Transparency alone is not enough: the desk row, the walking strip and the meeting niche must be written together.

What a Plan That Holds Needs

Without walls, attention scatters. Desk, chair and storage must resolve noise and sightlines together. Lighting completes daylight; a ceiling fitting should not drop straight onto the desk. If there is no quiet room or phone niche, the open plan grows interruption, not collaboration.
