Cubes Ankara: Ankara's Remarkable Office Project

Cubes Ankara is a mixed-use building in Çukurambar: offices, homes, shopping, a hotel and shared amenities. Block A holds residences; Block B holds the offices and the hotel. This article looks at the office shell, the cube units and how work rooms are laid out.

What Kind of Project?

Cubes Ankara was not drawn around a fashion that ages in a season. The shell is meant to stay usable, with a plan and shared rooms that last. A pool, spa, play and performance rooms, cafés, restaurants and hobby spaces serve residents and visitors. For an office owner that means meetings and breaks can stay on the same plot.

From Cubism to Cubes Ankara

The name points to joining floor area with volume. Breathing voids and repeatable cubes are the spine of the office plan. Modularity means a small unit for one person or a wider office made of several cubes.

Cubes Ankara office design does not use housing labels such as 2+1. The team treated the unit as a shell that can grow with the brief. Room layout is added later; that is why interior architecture starts after the cubes are joined.

Block B, Where the Offices Sit

A typical floor in Block B is about 1,800 m². Office units run from 35 m² to 1,800 m²; the source mentions around 500 units. Ceiling height is given as 3.40 m (the original “3.40 cm” is a typing error, not a ceiling). Larger teams join three or four cubes; smaller teams start with one cube and add area as they grow. Besides themed ready cubes, some units let the owner set the room layout to their own brief.
